Jazz Juice 7 (1988)

Well i thought i would get on with starting at the roots, my early infulences, so to speak. I plucked this compilation from my collection, which is one of a series of eight. They were put together on the strength of the Dingwall sessions, Camden. The series was compiled by Gillsey P, on the Street Sounds label. The standout track here for me is Pharoah Saunders " you gotta have freedom", an absolute dancefloor filler. Another by the beautiful Flora Purim, her voice ahhh. Ill try post "samba de flora", composed for her, by her husband the multi talented AIRTO. Anyway listen and enjoy...oh and check the Cybill Shepard track, you will be surprised.

Sun Ra- sleeping beauty

I start here with an all time favourite sun ra album. i first heard this in the late 90's, a couple of years after i had been turned on to ' languidity´, thanks to gilles peterson, etc. It was however elsuive, no matter how i searched. then thanks to the wonderful ART YARD records, an amount of Sun Ra reissues have now been made available. Its all very well downloading, but for you true music fans, you know that you want to own and gaze upon the original record.

Dusy groove writes:

"One of the most soulful Sun Ra albums ever -- very much on the Lanquidity tip, and done with a great mix of electric and acoustic instrumentation! The vibe here is really mellow, spiritual, and warm -- and the album actually feels a lot more like a session recorded for the Strata East label than it does for Saturn! Keyboards pervade the session -- electric piano and organ drifting around in moody, laidback lines -- augmented by occasional vibes, bits of guitar, and some wonderfully well-blown sax solo work by Marshall Allen and John Gilmore! The title track "Sleeping Beauty" runs for all of side two of the album -- and it's an amazing little number that mixes instrumental passages with some great mellow Roy Ayers-styled vocals. "Door Of The Cosmos" is a bit of a groover, and even gets a bit funky at times -- and the album also features the laidback spacey number "Springtime"."

anyway i own this, but haven´t uploaded it to share, to save time as this is my first blog, i thought i would link you to another blog that is sharing this record too.

WELCOME

Welcome, welcome , welcome, one and all.

Through a deep interest in all music, be it funk, jazzy, soulful or whatever, I discovered the wonder of music sharing. Over the next few weeks i shall be (time giving) ripping many of my own vinyl rarites, past discoveries as well as some new. i will be concentrating on stuff, that so far i haven´t seen to be otherwise available .
